Today I'm starting on proper jazz scales, more to follow but for now, revel in the glory of THE BEBOP DOMINANT SCALE.
Essentially the Mixolydian mode with an added major 7, which would be the same as the Ionian mode with a flat 7...
It contains the intervals: 1,2,3,4,5,6,b7,7.
As with the Eight Note Spanish scale, there are some potential interesting modes, and I probably will talk about these in more than passing later...
My personal sources of curiosity and probable applications are:
Mode 3 (1,b2,b3,4,b5,5,b6,b7) The Phrygian Mode with an extra b5 or Locrian with a added natural 5 if you prefer.
and
Mode 5 (1,2,b3,3,4,5,6,b7) The Dorian mode with an added 3 as I would most likely use it or Mixolydian with an added b3.
