THE MIXOLYDIAN PENTATONIC SCALE

THE MIXOLYDIAN PENTATONIC SCALE...

This is a five note scale containing the intervals 1,3,4,5,b7.

Essentially The Minor Pentatonic Scale with a 3 rather than a b3.

It makes sense to refer to this as a "Mixolydian" Pentatonic, and I have seen it referred to most places as this, but the term is also used to described The Dominant Pentatonic Scale, (1,2,3,5,b7)

I have also seen this scale referred to as the "Indian Pentatonic Scale"

But what ever it's called it sounds really cool, to my mind more intensely happy than The Major Pentatonic or The Dominant Pentatonic.

Have a play around any how.

The free guitar scale diagrams below lay out THE "MIXOLYDIAN" PENTATONIC SCALE for you all over the neck and as the five interlocking positions that link together to let you play the scale any where on the neck in any key.
